Cowboys Beat Falcons Behind Romo's Big Day

Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo has been plagued by inconsistency over the past two seasons, but on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons he was in top form. Romo threw for 311 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions as Dallas ripped the visiting Falcons by a final score of 37-21. Backup receiver Miles Austin had another solid game in place of injured starter Roy Williams, with 171 yards receiving and two touchdown grabs. Both teams are now 4-2 on the NFL season.

NFL betting enthusiasts who backed Dallas as -5' home favorite were rewarded with a pointspread victory. The Cowboys evened their mark against the NFL pointspread at 3-3, while Atlanta slipped to 4-2 against the number.

In his postgame comments to the media, Romo gave props to the undrafted Austin for making the best of his opportunity:

"He's definitely a big part of this offense. I'm glad to see all his hard work and effort is paying off."

I recently went to my local video store. I guess I should say my local "DVD" store, but old habits die hard. The double-time march of technology moves so quickly it's hard keep pace. In fact, I only recently have finished converting all my music tapes with CDs. And it only took me 10 years to do it.

Enter the iPod and my new slow-paced scramble to load my CD collection. The problem is, which one do I use? The Touch? The Nano? The Mosquito? I think a waiting strategy is in order. By the time I have the cash to buy one, the newest one will be on the market. But I digress.

Trolling through the narrow aisles, looking for something to rent that my wife wouldn't object to, I couldn't help but notice the 60-inch HDTV playing a Disney cartoon. It was hard to turn my head away from it as it dealt with talking animals. I was so mesmerized I forgot why I was there. I forgot my name, the time, even where I lived. The Technicolor brilliance of the images moving on the screen had me thoroughly enthralled. Then, faintly -- in the distance -- I heard honking.

When my wife swept into the store some time later, she shook me by the shoulders screaming, "What's wrong with you? You've been standing there for ten minutes -- didn't you hear me honking?" The Baltimore Ravens were one of the more successful NFL teams in 2008. Under the steady leadership of rookie quarterback Joe Flacco (who, despite his rookie status, showed the steady command of a seasoned veteran), the team had a successful 2008 campaign both offensively and defensively.

While the team made the playoffs, they were stopped short in their tracks, but the 2008 season was by and large considered a successful one for the Baltimore Ravens.

While most of the 2008 Ravens team is still intact, the loss of their defensive mastermind Rex Ryan (who is now head coach in New York for the Jets) led many to wonder whether the team could keep up its level of superiority when it came to defense.

Overall, the defense is becoming older but their competitive spirit is as high as ever. Ray Lewis is their emotional on-field and locker room leader. As long as Lewis is still performing at a high level, the Ravens defense will be a force to be reckoned with. True Count

Once you are ready to play an actual game and count the cards during the game you will go from a running count to the true count. To do this you keep the running count and divide it by the number of cards remaining in the deck. The true count will tell you what to bet.

If the true count is positive then bet more. If it is negative then don't bet as much. This allows you to play smart and only bet when you have a good chance of winning. Guitar Lessons - How To Master Harmonics

Hi welcome again to your FREE tips from myself Mike at KillerGuitarTips.com

We are going to look at a series of three tips on harmonics.

Harmonics are a natural phenomenon of your instrument and occur over the 5th, 7th and 12th fret.

If you gently touch the string over the fret and pick the string you will play a harmonic. We'll use the 12th fret for this example. DO NOT fret the string, just touch it directly over the fret and pluck the string.

Once plucked you should hear the harmonic note. If you find you get a dull muted sound simply move your finger towards the fret. Keep plucking the string as you move your finger until it becomes clear.

Try this over all the strings at the 12th, 7th and 5th frets.

You really do need this killer technique and is a 'must know' for any guitarist and should be part of their bag of tricks.

For a good example have a look at the middle section in Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2.

Practice it until you have mastered it.

Now that you've had chance to practice I'm now going to give you another tip on how to tune your guitar using harmonics.

This is a very easy and accurate way to tune your guitar. Following on from last weeks tip...

The harmonic over the 5th fret on the 6th string is the same pitch as the harmonic over the 7th fret on the 5th string.

The two harmonics when played together will produce wavering sound if the strings aren't in tune with each other. If for example you tune the 5th staring and this wavering sound speeds up then this means the string is going further out of tune. If the sound slows down then this means it's coming into tune. Keep tuning until the wavering has stopped, when stopped it means the two strings are in tune with each other. If you tune too far then the wavering sound will speed up again!

Repeat this with strings 5 & 4 and 4 & 3.

To tune the 2nd string we have to be a little innovative as this string is tuned 4 frets higher than the 3rd whereas the others are tuned 5 frets higher so this technique has to be adapted here. Play the harmonic on the 3rd string at the 12th fret (the note is G) then FRET the 8th fret on the 2nd string (the note is G of course!) now use your strumming hand to turn the tuning peg and tune the string!

We're now back to normal by tuning the 1st string 7th fret harmonic to the 2nd string 5th fret harmonic.

It is best to try this tuning technique with your distortion turned on as this makes the wavering sound really stand out.

As stated earlier this is a great way to tune your guitar and much more accurate than the normal and tuning method.

Now we'll move onto the last in this series of three on harmonics. The third is a look at pinched harmonics that's also known at artificial or false harmonics.

This type of harmonic is created by slightly touching the string with the side of your thumb immediately after you have picked it. It works best with a lot of distortion/overdrive and sounds like a screech.This is how we do it:Move your picking hand up and down the string whilst picking constantly to find where the different harmonic notes are.
