NCAA Football 10 - Review

By Carl Ferguson

College football is something that nearly everyone enjoys. The sound of helmets crushing together. The crowd roaring and the band playing. The atmosphere just sends chills down the spine of every football fan. While there is no replacement for the real thing, NCAA Football 10 comes pretty darn close. The franchise has never been better and there are a lot of new features to check out. Why would you want to get the latest installment of NCAA Football 10? Let's look at the details.

One of the most noticeable things about NCAA Football 10 is that a lot of things remain unchanged so of course you can still expect incredibly realistic football simulation. Thanks to the incredible power of the next generation consoles, it's probably the most realistic thing you've ever come across.

Just as is to be expected, this year's version incorporates numerous new features but of course, just as in previous years, you can still play against other people online. In fact, the game now includes a mode known as "Season Showdown" in which you get to play fore your favorite school. To start with; you get to choose one school to which you would like to play and of course, the more you play and win, the more points you end up getting for your school. In addition to trivia games, there are also a number of other interactive games you can play in order to win points. When you get to the end of the year, the school with the most points is awarded the Season Showdown National Championship. Of course, as you can imagine, this is an ideal way for you to interact with a number of other players, not to mention the fact that you get to cheer your school on.

Even with many new features, one simply cannot deny that the dynasty mode remains one of the ultimate features of the game given that you are able to take the game a step further by creating your own school. When you do this, you of course get the opportunity to name your school, pick a fight song, design a school logo, and of course, you get to create your very own team. Interestingly enough, you can even customize certain individual players in order to play on your team.

The game play is still second to none. For those used to playing Madden, you get a different type of football game. For example, the ability to run the option is a fun feature that you don't get in an NFL game.

Over and above what has already been mentioned, the game planning feature is also incredibly cool in that it allows you to put to a certain amount of the emphasis on the game. In other words, one can always decide to put more emphasis on opening up running lanes should you be having trouble running the ball. Of course, you do need to bear in mind that if you do this it will result in you getting more holding calls.

Perhaps the most welcome addition to the game is the new "play calling" mode which allows you to keep your opponents guessing and as such, you have an opportunity to catch them with their guards down.

Overall, there's just nothing out there quite like NCAA Football 10. It is unmatched in the gaming industry and it is the leader in the field for a reason. Check out the game today and immerse yourself in college football again.
