So, a good number of us await the substantial games we play outside the conference, and others anticipate to those large conference events. But then there's the few that ruminate about January. I'll admit, I do it without fail.
Especially since I cheer for a franchise who hasn't won a bowl game since 2006, whereas up to that, they had been victorious in five straight. But I still stand loyally alongside them, and the Big Ten Conference.
So what's bound to happen in the non-BCS bowls? I have no idea, I'll work that out at some point this week or next. But regarding the BCS Bowl Games, here's what I believe is going to go down, and how it could be kept from going down.
ROSE BOWL sponsored by Citi (Pasadena, California) OSU Buckeyes vs (at) USC Trojans This game can simply be prevented. I expect USC to lose one game at some point in the season, as they usually do.
If they get past the Buckeyes on September 12, then they'll be okay. But look out for the Cal Bears. I still predict S.C. will victory the Pac-ten, lately becoming known as the "Pac-1." The Buckeyes play the men of troy at home in September, where they'd much rather be than Pasadena, mere miles from the Los Angeles Coliseum. But look out for that November 7 matchup, in Pleased Valley.
Needless to say, the last time the Bucks traveled there, they blew out the Lions 37-17. But they need a victory, notably if they lose to USC in September. If they might defeat the Trojans in September, and the Lions in November, they could be headed for the National Championship. And the same goes for USC.
Tostitos FIESTA BOWL Oklahoma Sooners vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish One thing could inhibit this contest, October 17. That signifies the time of the Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas.
The winner of that, which I clearly forecast to be Texas, should more or less breeze to the National Title. In spite of this.. keep an eye out for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Notre Dame's revisit to glory should start hitting large strides this year.
They have a greatly experienced franchise, and a number thirteen preseason ranking. Assuming they lose to USC, but wipe the floor with their 84 other rivals (haha), they should earn a nice place in the BCS at season's end.
BCS National Championship Game presented by Citi financial (Pasadena, California) University of Florida vs UT-Austin The Florida Gators. Almost everybody picks them to make it to Pasadena on January 7th, led by one of the supreme players of our era, Tim Tebow. They have several tribulations at some point in the year.. but every person is marking their October ten matchup, at LSU. That and the Florida-Georgia event on Halloween are the biggest challenges for the Gators, as well as whoever they challenge in the SEC Championship.
